Where is the Obama money coming from?

http://www.fec.gov/

Money money money Obama Obama Obama

Here is where the "follow the money" effort can take place.

Take thirty seconds and you can find out who has donated to Obama.  Interesting how a lot of money came from outside of the home state.  It may not be unusual but it shows how money flows from place to place.  Can you afford to donate a $1000 to any candidate?

WHERE DID OBAMA'S MONEY COME FROM??

Maureen Dowd, winner of the 1999 Pulitzer Prize for distinguished
commentary, became a columnist on The New York Times Op-Ed page in 1995 after
having served as a correspondent in the paper's Washington bureau since
1986. She has covered four presidential campaigns and served as White House
correspondent. She also wrote a column, "On Washington ," for The New
York Times Magazine.

Born in Washington D.C. , Ms. Dowd received a B.A. degree in English
literature from Catholic University ( Washington , D.C. ) in 1973.

Ms. Dowd joined The New York Times as a metropolitan reporter in 1983. She
began her career in 1974 as an editorial assistant for The Washington Star,
where she later became a sports columnist, metropolitan reporter and feature
writer. When the Star closed in 1981, she went to Time magazine.

OBAMA'S TROUBLING INTERNET FUND RAISING
Certainly the most interesting and potentially devastating phone call I
have received during this election cycle came this week from one of the
Obama's campaign internet geeks. These are the staffers who devised Obama's
internet fund raising campaign which raised in the neighborhood of $200 million
so far. That is more then twice the total funds raised by any candidate in
history – and this was all from the i nternet campaign.

What I learned from this insider was shocking but I guess we shouldn't
be surprised that when it comes to fund raising there simply are no rules that
can't be broken and no ethics that prevail.

Obama's internet campaign started out innocently enough with basic
e-mail networking , lists saved from previous party campaigns and from
supporters who visited any of the Obama campaign web sites.
Small contributions came in from these sources and the internet campaign
staff were more than pleased by the results.

Then, about two months into the campaign the daily contribution intake
multiplied. Where was it coming from? One of the web site security monitors
began to notice the bulk of the contributions were clearly coming in from
overseas internet service providers and at the rate and frequency of
transmission it was clear these donations were "pr ogrammed" by a very
sophisticated user.

While the security people were not able to track most of the sources due
to firewalls and other blocking devices put on these contributions they were
able to collate the number of contributions that were coming in seemingly from
individuals but the funds were f rom only a few credit card accounts and bank
electronic funds transfers. The internet service providers (ISP) they were able
to trace were from Saudi Arabia , Iran , and other Middle Eastern countries.
One of the banks used for fund transfers was also located in Saudi Arabia .

Another concentrated group of donations was traced to a Chinese ISP with a
similar pattern of limited credit card charges.

It became clear that these donations were very likely coming from sources
other than American voters. This was discussed at length within the campaign
and the decision was made that none of these donations violated campaign
financing laws.

It was also decided that it was not the responsibility of the campaign to
audit these millions of contributions as to the actual source (specific credit
card number or bank transfer account numbers) to insure that none of these
internet contributors exceeded the legal maximum donation on a cumulative basis
of many small donations. They also found the record keeping was not complete
enough to do it anyway.

This is a shocking revelation.

We ha ve been concerned about the legality of "bundling" contributions
after the recent exposure of illegal bundlers but now it appears we may have an
even greater problem.

If the $200,000,000 is right, and the average contribution was $15.00,
that would mean over 13 million individuals made contributions? That would also
be 13 million contributions would need to be processed. How did all that
happen?

This is a false article. Maureen Dowd nver wrote this. see snopes.com: http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/donations.asp

WooooooW I give a lot of credit to republicans. HOW THE HELL THEY CAME UP WITH A BULLSHIT LIKE THAT. THEY SHOULD WRITE A SCIENFICTION BOOK WHILE THEY AT IT. HA HA HA HA ...

I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY NOT ONE PERSON HAS ASKED THE GOP VICE PRESIDENT HOW SHE CAN SUPPORT APSTANACE ONLY SEX EDUCATION FOR EVERONE ELSES CHILD AND CANNOT MAKE IT WORK IN HER OWN FAMILY.

Ha ha! You should read the one the guy wrote about how it was the Republicans who brought 9/11 down on us. Yup. Political ignorance reigns supreme!
Republican/Democrat = Different piles, same stink.

I personally think that the bulk of Obama's campaign contributions came from Oprah :)))

TOM--THE WORD IS SPELLED AS FOLLOWS: ABSTINENCE

Many Americans tuned in to watch the most recent “town hall-style” debate between presidential candidates Barack Obama and John McCain. My assumptions about politicians did not change much. No matter how direct a question is, politicians of any party cannot give a genuine or spontaneous answer. Instead, we are given pre-written responses that typically don’t answer the question we’re really asking. The reviews of the debate seem to be the same: BORING! The New York Times explained that the debate was “90 minutes of forced cordiality,” and I can’t say I disagree. And the Boston Globe depicted the debate as “mercifully free” of personal attacks. Consequently, the debate was also free of much of the tension that grabs TV viewers’ attention. McCain continued to toot his own horn: he restated the importance of his experience, his “stay the course” stance on the war in Iraq, and his oil drilling policies. Obama proceeded to criticize the Republican economic policies that he believes are to blame for the economic recession. Even after the debate, I think most Americans still have no concept of how the candidates would actually act in the face of a pending economic catastrophe. American needs a sound economic proposal. Obama’s stance on “predatory lending” – effectively sanctioning payday advance lenders – is not a sensible solution to the real economic problems we face.

In the classic novel, Brave New World, author Aldous Huxley warns his readers of what could happen if the government gained total control of our daily lives. First published in 1932, Huxley wrote the book trying to imagine how his hometown of London might be in the year 2540, based on the increasing number of programs to end war, conflict, suffering, and antagonistic (aka: “free”) thought. In other words, the book is a portrayal of what the world would look like if the voice of the people was ignored, and people could not live free of the government. Huxley had and continues to have many critics. Several government programs and policies have been put into place that have structured America into a place very similar to Huxley’s 2540 London. It’s true that the communist and socialist ideals have been present in America for years, but never have these movements been too prevalent—until now. Thanks to present-day politicians, socialism and communism are creeping into U.S. government practices, which in turn, transfer our liberties into the hands of the government. As an example, elected officials have created regulations on where fast food restaurants can open up in Los Angeles. Sadly, the “man” is taking it to you and telling you that you can’t get a greasy burger and milkshake in South L.A. Even scarier are the state and national politicians that want to limit, or even eliminate, your access to fast, easy payday loans. Politicians want to win votes, and eliminating the payday loan industry is, for some reason, a good way to accomplish that goal. This necessitates action. We need to fight the against government’s ever-tightening stranglehold on our everyday lives.

On Wednesday, October 14, 2008, the third and final U.S. Presidential Debate took place in Hempstead, New York. According to an average of national polls collected by CNN, Senator Barack Obama went into the debate as the majority’s favorite with an eight-point lead. Sen. John McCain of Arizona attempted to shred the young Illinois Senator’s policies, judgment and character. When Sen. Obama responded with a more critical stance regarding the economic policies of the past eight years, McCain was quick to point out that he was “not President Bush” and intends to enact an “across the board spending freeze,” take a hatchet to unnecessary programs and use a scalpel on the remaining once the dust settled. On the other hand, Obama offered a more conservative sound to the American people, stating he would “go through the federal budget page by page, line by line” in order to close programs that aren’t working as they should. Both presidential candidates proclaim to bring a better change to a broken America and a solution to our economy. However, would they leave or take consumers’ ability to access payday loans where and when it’s necessary? The answer is still uncovered. Although we believe to be living in “the land of the free,” interest groups, such as banks and credit unions, have a different opinion on our freedom to choose.
