A tribute to the Obama for President campaign, set to the 1971 live recording of the Richie Havens version of George Harrison’s great, hopeful song.

don’t let the facts get in the way:
the war? remember 9/11 and how Clinton ignored the USS Cole and the first bombing of the trade center
the mortgage foreclosure? created by the Dems with their neighborhood mortgage requirement (regardless of the credit)
But…
we do share one comment: I hope that President Obama can move us, as the phrase I use … onward and upward
The sun feels good, doesn’t it?
We’re finally emerging out of the Dark Ages created by Bush, Cheney and their heartless ilk.
Let’s all support President Obama by holding him to his campaign promise to heal America’s addiction to war. Let’s all of us contribute to a newer, freer, kinder America, each in our own way.
I could hardly believe what I was seeing at today’s Inauguration — a massive sea of humanity joyously celebrating the America that we’ve all dreamed we could be and now know that we really are!
The sun is shining today!!!!
Well said, scrip! (and Daniel… that guy had a way with words too… kind of like our brave new President!)
May the sun -in his course- visit no land more free
More happy, more lovely, than this our own country!

Here comes the sun
One BIG step today. LOTs more still to come!
“My country, when right to be kept right; when wrong to be put right. – Carl Schurz (19th century U.S. Senator (and immigrant))
Thanks for a great upload!
Thank you! Today we celebrate! Tomorrow, We the People get back to organizing for change!
Isn’t this a great song/video?
Well said brah!
Obama is gonna need all the help he can get. So it’s also up to us. As David Korten says:
Now is the hour!
We have the power!
We are the ones we’ve been waiting for!
2 hours and 21 minutes from now will be noontime, January 20, 2009. And here indeed will come the sun – the 44th President of the USA!!
Actually my 12-year old daughter showed me, last Spring 2008, how to use the software to put this together using Windows MovieMaker… but it is Richie Havens version of the great George Harrison song of hope that makes it real! Happy Inauguration Everyone!
I’ve been pushing for this song – this version – to be a campaign song from the very beginning. I love that someone finally put this together. Thank you !
d8nt - Thanks for watching and listening. Richie will do a concert at Manship Theater in Baton Rouge, LA on Sun. Jan. 18 — whether he’ll actually be at Inaugural festivities I’ve been unable to confirm. The voice of yesterday, today and tomorrow… he’ll be there with all of us, and all who came before us, who helped to make this happen.
Like many of you, I often thought of Richie during Obama’s journey to the winning the election. Perhaps it should now be titled, “Here Comes The Son”, long over due, but never too late…From an observer not too far away…in Canada. David, wish Obama well. One can only hope that Richie is there on Jan. 20th.
Thank you! I agree – seems to me Richie’s version was incubating for 37 years before achieving its much deserved real world meaning.
Of all the thousands of Beatles’ covers in all the world, I think this is my favorite. That guitar opening knocks my socks off. 37 years later and it sounds fresh, relevant and absolutely joyful!
i love this version of the song does anyone know where i can get tabs for it
Yep! Been there for months. Last month Richie added the picture above it of him at a polling place on election day!
You know this is on the Richie Havens website?
You’re welcome! Maybe Barack will invite Richie Havens to the Inauguration party?!?!?
Thanks so much for making this.
What was, is now again! Richie! is the Best!
he can take a song, that already mean’t something, and turn it into a National call
to change, freedom, and the true meaning of what the Founding Fathers Mean’t in ” All men are created EQUAL”
