A short biography of First Lady Michelle Obama.
Born in Israel under the name Chaim Witz, Gene Simmons relocated to Brooklyn at the age of 9 with his mother, a Hungarian immigrant and the only member of her family to survive the Holocaust. Once in the States his name was changed to the more American-sounding Gene Klein, and he struggled to advance his understanding of English through watching television and reading comics. During his school years, he developed an interest in horror and science fiction, for a while even publishing his own comics fanzine; but the Beatles phenomenon inspired a stronger urge to become a musician, and in 1967 he secured a second hand guitar from his mother to realize his ambitions. Participation in a series of different bands followed, amongst which were The Missing Links and The Long Island Sounds. After high school Simmons enrolled in college and began working towards a degree in education, performing at night as a member of Bullfrog Bheer and later in the folk duo Coffee. A period was spent as a teacher in Spanish Harlem and then as a personal assistant for the editor of Vogue, but by this time he had met Paul Stanley and, after a series of unsuccessful attempts, the two founded Kiss in 1973. It was at this point that he adopted the name Gene Simmons. When they come home we have a sacred trust to make sure that we are doing everything we can to heal all of their wounds. Giving them the opportunities that they deserve to find a job and get the education that they need. It’s not enough just to make a speech about how we value veterans. It’s not enough just to remember them on Memorial Day.

BehaviorMatrix announces an exclusive partnership with Crowdverb to provide BehaviorMatrix behavioral analytics to capture emotional behavior data, unlocking the key to understanding and engaging audiences based on trending data surrounding audience attitudes and preferences.
Crowdverbs CSA Complete Signal Analysis exclusively uses BehaviorMatrixs technology to open a window into crowds, revealing the behaviors and emotions that drive decisions and actions. The patent-pending Emotional Indexing technology from BehaviorMatrix, combined with Crowdverbs analytical expertise gives clients the power to measure complex emotions such as trust, leadership and electability on an ongoing basis something never before possible. This ability to truly understand the consumer sets a new standard for interpreting crowd-based behavior for grassroots mobilization campaigns.
Mobilization requires unique insight into the pulse of the consumer and voter, and that is what BehaviorMatrix gives us, said Crowdverb co-founder and mobilizer Cyrus Krohn. Real-time, insightful information allows Crowdverb to provide the best possible advice to our clients.
BehaviorMatrix pulls tens of millions of structured and unstructured data points from a diverse set of sources, going far beyond standard social outlets like Facebook and Twitter. The data then undergoes advanced linguistic and cognitive behavioral analysis to identify and quantify emotional signals, from nuanced feelings to polarizing outbursts. The system can distinguish between more than 100 different human emotions, from the simple (love, hate, joy), to the sophisticated (trust, apathy, amazement).
Our technology allows Crowdverb to analyze consumer emotion much more quickly and efficiently than traditional public opinion and market research, said Bill Thompson, CEO of BehaviorMatrix. This agility is critical to providing clients with improved marketing effectiveness and customer engagement.
Crowdverb is offering a public sample of CSA by publishing three ongoing indexes measuring different aspects of voter sentiment:

They cut corners and extracted profit from the business at every turn, placing it deeply in debt. When the company eventually declared bankruptcy, workers not only lost their jobs but were denied their full pensions and health insurance, and the government was forced to step in and provide a bailout.

“Being blind and being disabled doesn’t mean you can’t learn a new skill said Fred Taylor, spokesman for the Veterans Workshop, a national veterans nonprofit. Our virtual instructors have trained an 89-year old, blind WWII Navy veteran on how to make phone calls for deaf American veterans. If we can do that, we can do almost anything,” said Taylor.
Emory Finefrock, 89, a blind Navy veteran from Yukon, Oklahoma has been in training for weeks and is now preparing himself to make phones call to the White House and to the Romney campaign, acting as a relay operator for a deaf American veteran.
“My generation is called the “Greatest Generation” and we still have gas left in the tank and I am eager to showcase to all Americans that while it is a fact that I am blind, it is also a fact that I am not helpless. I have been taught by the Veterans Workshop how to help a veteran who has lost his hearing make a phone call and I am dedicated to this project with all my heart,” said Finefrock.
Calling the presidential candidates will help to showcase to the American public this Memorial Day the disproportionate numbers of veterans who are blind and those who are deaf that are unemployed.
The Veterans Workshop deploys innovative and imaginative technology concepts that allow disabled veterans to find employment while helping each other.
“Who would ever have thought that a blind veteran could make phone calls for a deaf veteran?” said Taylor.
The Veterans Workshop did, and set out to prove the concept.
The Veterans Workshop has other innovative projects that will help shape the debate on what we do with those returning from the war on terror who are suffering from dramatic disabilities. Utilizing technology is just one way that these men and women who have given so much can continue to work.

Launched less than four months ago, Seamus2012.com has become a popular clearinghouse of news, videos and information about GOP presidential frontrunner Mitt Romney and his family dog, an Irish Setter named Seamus, which was strapped to the car roof during a 12-hour drive to their vacation home in Canada.
Its no surprise why this story continues to have such staying power in the media, says Seamus2012.coms creator Bill Katovsky. Who does that to their family dog – and then thinks there was nothing wrong? Its a blatant form of animal cruelty.
Although the incident took place back in 1983, it first publicly surfaced in a Boston Globe profile of Romney during the previous presidential campaign. Seamus obviously wasnt enjoying himself on the roof of the station wagon. He had a messy bout of diarrhea that streamed down the car windows, causing one of the Romney kids to scream in horror. So Mitt stopped at a gas station, hosed down the windows, got back in the car, and continued driving. Seamus remained in the dog crate on the car roof.
Pet lovers agree that Romney belongs in the doghouse, not White House. Gail Collins has mentioned the car roof story 41 times in her New York Times column. (Theres a Mitt OMeter counter on Seamus2012.com that keeps count.)
Mitts aloofness, utter strangeness, and lack of an empathy gene are symbolized by the Seamus saga, continues Katovsky. Romney made a fortune in the private sector buying up companies and indifferently laying off workers. He saw nothing wrong with his callous actions then, either. Its an out-of-touch character issue that resonates among the average voter.
Seamus is a story with legs, as made apparent with a Dogs Against Romney Facebook page, New Yorker magazine cover, a Rachel Maddow special segment on MSNBC, two features on CNN, numerous op-ed columns in places like the Washington Post and Los Angeles Times, and the subject just last week of ABCs Diane Sawyers interview with Mitt and Ann Romney.
Theres even a new pro-Obama DogPAC hoping to raise more than $ 1 million to advertise in battleground sites.
What could be further damaging to the Romney presidential campaign is that National Dog Day falls on August 26, which happens to be the day before the start of the Republican National Convention.
Dogs dont vote, says Katovsky, but their owners do. And there are over 70 million U.S households that own a pet. This alone could have a galvanizing effect on the presidential race.
Popular posts on Seamus2012.com include a Hitler parody video that Katovsky created with over 40,000 YouTube views, Seamus crossword puzzle, and a story that looked into the Romneys Canadian vacation home that was located inside a formerly restricted community called Beach O Pines. Mitts father, a former governor who also ran for president, had built the cottage in the early 50s. Before a landmark Canadian Supreme Court ruling was handed down, followed by the enforcement of an anti-discrimination law, this exclusive community on the shores of Lake Huron, where the Romneys vacationed each summer, was off-limits to any person of the Jewish, Hebrew, Semitic, Negro or coloured race or blood.
The issue of race and religion as reflected in Beach O Pines should be an even bigger political story here in the U.S. than what Romney did to Seamus, says Katovsky. Yet the media which travel in packs has neglected reporting on this rather shameful part of Romneys family history.
Katovsky is the author of several books including Embedded: The Media at War in Iraq, which won the Harvards Goldsmith Book Prize and Patriots Act: Voices of Dissent and the Risk of Speaking Out, which was a Book Sense National Selection; His writings have appeared in the Huffington Post, Salon, and San Francisco Chronicle. He owned a golden retriever named Rockee. They were best pals for 14 years. Rockee almost always rode in the front passenger seat.
