Kris Lindahl, Edina Realty’s number one short sale agent, was excited to see that, as part of the 11th hour dealings to avoid the fiscal cliff, lawmakers have extended the Mortgage Debt Relief Act through 2013. President Obama is expected to sign it shortly. “This is great news,”says Kris Lindahl. “The extension of this act means that homeowners will not have to pay taxes on forgiven mortgage debt through 2013,” Kris explains.
The Mortgage Debt Relief Act was set to expire on December 31, 2012 and would have put millions of homeowners in an undesirable situation. With its extension, homeowners can take a breath of relief. “I’ve been watching this situation very closely for the past year,” Kris Lindahl said, and continued, “I was very happy to see it extended in the 11th hour.” The extension will now be in effect until January 1, 2014.
Kris Lindahl and his short sale team are hard working, full-time Edina Realty realtors. Kris and his all members of his team hold the designations Certified Distressed Property Experts (CDPE), Short Sale & Foreclosure Resources (SFR), and Council of Residential Specialists (CRS). Kris received the Chairman’s Award from Edina Realty for record-breaking numbers in sales and sales volume.
In addition to creating online real estate resources Kris also takes time to give to charities including the ACBC Emergency Food Shelf, the Liz Loglin Foundation, and most recently the Newtown Youth and Family Services. “I get so much support from family, friends, clients, and the community that the least I can do is give back,” Kris Lindahl said.

On Friday, the two crossed paths in the Port of Spain hotel where the Summit is being held, and Mr. Obama walked over to be greeted with a handshake and smiles. Mr. Chavez’s office said he told the new President: I want to be your friend. At a meeting this morning, Mr. Chavez walked over to Mr. Obama, gave him a friendly pat, and handed him a book — The Open Veins of Latin America: Five Centuries of the Pillage of a Continent by Eduardo Galeano. It is a book that argues the continent has been scarred by US and European exploitation. And a lunch-time photo of all 34 leaders today, Mr. Obama smiled at Mr. Chavez, and reached over for a handshake again. It’s far from clear whether the exchanges are the first sign of better relations with the fiery and mercurial Mr. Chavez, however. Mr. Chavez has built his populist support in Venezuela on anti-American rhetoric and has used the country’s oil revenues to build alliances in the region. Two of Mr. Chavez’s leftist Latin American allies, Nicaragua’s Daniel Ortega and Bolivia’s Evo Morales, have welcomed the change Mr. Obama represents, but said they are waiting to see the proof. Mr. Morales said he was surprised by the welcome message of equal partnership and non-interference Mr. Obama delivered in his first speech at the summit Friday night, but added that he’s yet to see the difference 100 days into his presidency.. In Bolivia, we have yet to feel any change. The policies of conspiracy continue, he said. His views echoed …

Secret Service members who had their clearances pulled after bringing prostitutes back to their hotel while on the job in Columbia (http://bit.ly/HZRSaB) were experiencing a biochemical craving for connection, says relationship and sex therapist Dr. Bonnie Eaker Weil. The organization says they let their boss, President Obama, down with the behavior of these men and it will likely cause additional outrage from the public in regards to taxpayer money being used to hire prostitutes.
“The Secret Service was seen as a badge of honor,” says Dr. Bonnie, “and this revelation has definitely sullied their reputation.” Behavior like this is not uncommon among people with high stress, high-powered jobs. Politicians are frequently getting caught with their pants down – sometimes literally – and it even extends to the Oval Office where not that long ago President Clinton was impeached for engaging in illicit sexual acts on the job.
Dr. Bonnie says this can all be attributed to the biochemical craving for connection. “When people are constantly dealing with a high-stress environment, they’re looking for ways to self-medicate. They’re not thinking clearly and they’re likely looking for experiences that will give them additional highs and make them feel even more powerful.” It’s self-reinforcing she says. The more powerful people feel, the more risks they take, which in turn makes them feel even more powerful.
It’s an addictive cycle, one often started by something like a high-stress or high-powered job. “But it then devolves into just wanting that high to feel good, or to escape,” explains Dr. Bonnie. It becomes a quest for forbidden fruit, to feed the addiction. People with jobs like Secret Service members don’t have to look hard for exciting experiences – they’re in foreign countries, spending time with powerful people, they’re likely to take risks says Dr. Bonnie – and in the right situation, they should!
“The Secret Service’s job often depends on them taking risks, so it can be hard to shut off that behavior and not let it permeate every aspect of their life,” Dr. Bonnie observes. But the very scrutiny and pressure that brings with it so much excitement, is the reason why people in a public service line of work have to be even more careful about their behavior. Says Dr. Bonnie, “by engaging in compromising behavior, they not only let down the President of the United States, they may have compromised his safety. And they will be subject to much harsher
penalties, both from the public and from their own system of review.”

Whats The 411 Networks, a digital media company (http://www.whatsthe411.com), founded by Ruth J. Morrison recently made history when it launched coverage of the U.S. Supreme Court. Whats The 411 Networks is the first Black-owned media company to receive media credentials to cover the U.S. Supreme Court. Constitutional Law Professor Gloria Browne-Marshall Whats The 411 Networks correspondent covering the United States Supreme Court is the first African-American woman journalist to cover the countrys highest court.
With U.S. Supreme Court media credentials, Ms. Browne-Marshall listened to the oral arguments at the United States Supreme Court on February 28, 2012, for the cases Kiobel v. Royal Dutch Petroleum and Mohamad v. Palestinian Authority. Both cases focus on corporate immunity; expressly, should corporations be held liable for acts of torture committed under their auspices? What makes these cases especially fascinating is that both cases allege torture by a foreign company on foreign soil.
My mission is to report on the U.S. Supreme Court in a manner that is accessible to the general public and of assistance to scholars at large, said Gloria Browne-Marshall. I applaud Whats The 411 Networks for its willingness to cover the actions of the U.S. Supreme Court, as not enough attention is paid to the Third branch of government. The general population knows the least about the workings of the U.S. Supreme Court; yet its rulings become the law of the land.
I am delighted to have created a media company that facilitated this momentous occasion, said Ruth J. Morrison. Decisions from the United States Supreme Court affect the lives of all citizens, immigrants, and in these particular cases, people and corporations beyond our borders. And, truth be told, the U.S. Supreme Court is the most powerful branch of government because all too often, its rulings stand without Congressional intervention.
Further, in view of Citizens United, it will be very interesting to see how the Court threads this needle regarding these two cases, Ms. Morrison continued.
