A poll conducted during the current record-setting flu season and released today by the Better World Campaign reveals strong bipartisan support for the World Health Organization (WHO).
Sixty-one percent of voters express a favorable opinion of the WHO, and 92 percent say that it is important for the United States to both provide funds and be part of the decisionmaking process for the WHO, which works to protect against threats to global health and prevent disease outbreaks around the world. With regards to U.S. spending on international assistance to help people in poor and developing countries improve their health situation, a plurality of voters45 percentsupport keeping the level of U.S. spending the same, 22 percent support an increase in this spending, and 27 percent support a decrease in this spending.

For the third and last time before the election, Barrack Obama and Mitt Romney will face each other on a debate. And as abclocal.go.com reported, foreign policy was the chosen focus of it. But among other matters, the candidates’ stand on the issue of military budget cuts clearly presented their small foreign policy difference, GreenBeanBuddy commented.
According to political analyst Capozzi, and as related by the abclocal report, “…the winner won’t come from what is said but how it’s presented.” That’s because there is but a small foreign policy disparity between the candidates, asserted GreenBeanBuddy.
Set to take place in Lynn University in Florida, the said debate will tackle the issues about the deadly attacks in Libya, the war in Afghanistan, the nuclear ambition of Iran and the rise of China.
Here is an excerpt from the post Third Presidential to Tackle Foreign Policies by GreenBeanBuddy.com.
The third and final presidential debate between Barrack Obama and Mitt Romney is all set for tonight. And the chosen battleground is the state of Florida. The focus foreign policy.
According to polls, Romney won the first debate. And though several people said that he tied with the Democrat on the second, many countered that Obama reclaimed himself and bagged it. But with the third debate, critics say that the winner will be determined more on how he presented his points than what his points are.
As said by the news website GreenBeanBuddy.com, small may be the difference between the two candidates in terms of foreign policy, it’s still a difference. And that, it said, lies on their plans to solve the foreign issues to which they are in agreement. However, that small disparity is clearly presented by their opposing stand on the issue about the cutting of military budget more than anything else, the website added.

www.euronews.com Barack Obama was back on fighting form for the second US Presidential debate. Republican challenger Mitt Romney achieved a bounce in the polls after the first one, but round two was more evenly matched. Obama reminded voters that his opponent has criticised almost half of them. “I believe Governor Romney is a good man, loves his family cares about his faith, but I also believe when he said behind closed doors that 47 percent of the country considered themselves victims, who refused personal responsibility, think about who he was talking about!” But Romney said his taxation plans are fair. “Why am I lowering taxes on the middle class? Because under the last four years, they’ve been buried, and I want to help people in the middle class. And I will not, I will not under any circumstances reduce the share that is being paid by the highest-income taxpayers, and I will not under any circumstances increase taxes on the middle class.” On foreign policy, Obama delivered a resounding smackdown near the end of their exchange. He led Romney into making an error over the government’s handling of an attack on US diplomats in Libya. Obama: “I am the President. And I’m always responsible. And that is why nobody is more interested in finding out exactly what happened than I did. The day after the attack, Governor, I stood in the Rose Garden, and I told the American people and the world that we are going to find out exactly what happened, that this was an act of terror …

The Libertarian Presidential Candidate Gary Johnson appeared live via video feed for a FACETStelevision interview with Producer/Host Kevin McDonald. Vice Presidential Candidate Judge Jim Gray was simultaneously live with McDonald in the Costa Mesa studios of Time-Warner Cable.
A series of hard hitting questions elicited unexpected and provocative answers from the candidates. Topics ranged from the economy and immigration to foreign policy, the proposed legalization of Marijuana and media censorship of the campaign. We were thrilled to be the first to record Governor Johnsons reaction to the U.S. Supreme Courts ruling upholding The Affordable Care Act also known as Obamacare, said McDonald.
Often referred to as the most fiscally conservative Governor in America, Governor Johnson held office as the Republican Governor of New Mexico between 1995-2003. Johnsons defection from Republican Party has most certainly caused some signifianct consternation in both parties. The Libertarian Party is enjoying a new level of legitimacy and political credibility following Governor Johnsons move.
During the FACETStelevision interview with McDonald, Governor Johnson speaks freely about how he believes CNN and other media outlets have gone out their way to lock him out of the race and the public discourse. The Governor points out that CNN edited out portions of interviews in which former Minnesota Governor Jessie Ventura states his support for the Johnson/Gray ticket in the 2012 presidential election. Johnson went on further to allege that CNN intentionally blurred out a Johnson for President T-shirt worn by Ventura.
Prior to his joining the Libertarians, Governor Johnson was blocked from being included in Republican debates because he reportedly did not come in high enough in certain polls. According to the Governor, he was not even included in those polls.
McDonald made it clear during the interview that he was significantly bothered by what appeared to be the media tilting the playing field in favor of the two main party candidates. Johnson said in a post interview comment, The media have no business censoring the free speech of those being interviewed. Additionally, the Governor expressed both frustration and a dire concern that mainstream media, in essence, silence viable Third-Party candidates.
This type of media manipulation is a real danger to our democracy. A man of Gary Johnsons caliber and proven history must be given a fair opportunity in our election process, said FACETStelevision Executive Producer, David McNeil.
The Johnson Campaign is pledging to get to 15% in at least 4 polls required to get them included in the debates. This would be a huge achievement and a major blow to the status quo. Some early polls have shown Johnson taking votes from Romney although others say that hes gathering votes from Obamas camp as well. Candidate Johnson said he expects to be on the ballot in all 50 states. The campaign getting to 15% will depend in part on whether or not the media and polling organizations decide to continue their dishonest lock out of the Johnson campagin. When asked to comment McDonald said, This treatment of Governor Johnson is truly disturbing and highlights a level of censorship by the establishment media and polling organizations that should never be tolerated by voters or the other political parties for that matter. It is not up to any media, including CNN, nor the political elites, to decide whose endorsements or candidacies should or should not be heard by the public.

Gary Johnson, two-term governor of New Mexico from 1995-2003, has been a consistent advocate for limited, efficient government and personal liberties. Johnson switched from the Republican Party to the Libertarian Party on Dec. 28, 2011. As the Libertarian Party nominee, Johnson will appear on all 50 states’ ballots.
An outspoken pro-Constitution Libertarian, Johnson would end the war in Afghanistan now. He opposes the failed multi-billion dollar war on drugs and demands greater transparency at the Federal Reserve. As president, Johnson plans to cut federal spending by 43 percent, slash debt and make government live within its means while reducing taxes and regulation to foster real job creation and economic opportunity like he did in eight years as governor. The National Review said he was “#1″ in job creation as governor. The Governor is an avid skier and bicyclist. He has reached the highest peaks on four of the seven continents, including Mount Everest.

GOTV mobilization is a challenge for any campaign. How a campaign allocates its resources in this late, crucial stage of the campaign can make the difference between winning and losing. Should we hit the field with another mail piece or do another ad buy? How about paid canvass? What will my call universe look like? There are so many considerations that it can be a challenge to get the correct mix of ingredients.
Having a serious telecom strategy is a necessity for any successful campaign. Since its founding in 2005, CallFire has worked directly with advocacy and political groups to help formulate winning telecom outreach strategies. CallFire Political Coordinator and Engineer Daniel Tawfik will share critical data insights derived from the millions of calls and SMS messages sent through the CallFire platform to illustrate strategies that get people to the polls. Daniel will also discuss the future of mobile advocacy and the effectiveness of SMS text messaging to get out the vote.
To preview some of the strategies that will be discussed at the conference, CallFire has compiled a list of best practice tips to help campaigns leverage technology trends to get more supporters to the polls:
1. Use hosted IVR software to identify voters.
Implementing an effective GOTV strategy requires identifying your campaign’s support early to push them to the polls on Election Day. Interactive Voice Response technology allows you to send polls out in the field and get that data directly into your voter file. The automation of the IVR technology allows you to conduct large scale polls at the fraction of the cost of hiring a call center. Its scalability and cost effectiveness make the IVR an integral component to a winning campaign strategy of identifying voters.
2. Increase call volume with a power dialer.
Manual hand dialing is a thing of the past. If you’re still hand dialing from call sheets you’re not maximizing your volunteer’s time and not reaching enough voters. The rapid connection rate of power dialing allows you to call through your voter file at two to three times speed of manual hand dialing. The dialer streamlines the calls by skipping bad numbers, busy signals, and voice mail. Your volunteers will find call time to be more effective and far more pleasurable. In addition, this cloud based software allows your volunteers to organize and make calls from home and their own remote locations.
3. SMS text messaging to communicate a call to action.
A successful political campaign needs to rapidly communicate call to actions to supporters. In 2008, the Obama Campaign showed how effective SMS text messaging can be as a tool to rapidly organize supporters. Since 2008, more campaigns have used SMS text messaging to power their field programs. In Massachusetts, Scott Brown was able to use texts to send out rapid call to actions. When his opponent appeared on a radio program, Brown texted his supporters to call the station. 90% of the calls to the station were from Brown supporters.
4. Make robocalls more dynamic with navigable IVRs.
Voice broadcast political robocalls are a tried and true method of rapidly getting your message out to thousands of voters. With navigable IVR’s you can tailor your message to the issues and values that are important to the voter. Voters can chose from a selection of issues that are important to them and hear the candidate’s stance on those issues. These customizable messages also allow you to communicate very specific information on issues and polling locations that are highly targeted.
5. Integrate your web platform with your telephony campaigns.
Successful voter outreach programs should be made easily accessible for volunteers. In the 2010 election, a number of innovative campaigns allowed their volunteers to call from home by providing a link to an autodialer system and dramatically increased the volume of GOTV calls. By creating a volunteer portal to your dialer on the campaign homepage, you allow your volunteers to call from home at their own convenience and effectively get out the vote.
6. Optimize Your Social Networking Campaign By Targeting Your Message.
During the 2008 presidential election, social media revolutionized the way candidates connect to voters and engage supporters. The Obama campaign gathered followers through Facebook, YouTube and Twitter. However, a “Like” on Facebook, a YouTube view or a re-blog on Tumblr may not directly affect the ballot box. Now each campaign must answer an important question: How do we turn a digital following into real-world volunteers? Digital followers that feel connected to the campaign will be more likely to make the leap from online supporter to offline volunteer.
There are a multitude of ways campaigns can leverage cloud technology to increase campaign awareness and drive supporters to the polls. For more information on how you can get your campaign running in the cloud, visit our GOTV best practice page.
With CallFires powerful voice and text platform, any campaign can reach thousands of voters and supporters immediately and get near instantaneous feedback.
